YES and MTAC Offer FREE TIPS Training for Businesses Serving or Selling Alcohol

Drink_ID_KeysThe COVID-19 pandemic has brought many new guidelines and restrictions to our retail and service establishments that serve and sell alcohol. To assist local businesses, YES Community Counseling Center (YESCCC) and Massapequa Takes Action Coalition (MTAC) are hosting FREE TIPS Training,a skills-based training designed to help businesses prevent intoxication, drunk driving and underage drinking. TIPS will be offered VIRTUALLY. Off-premise business training (employees of liquor, grocery, convenience, and retail stores) will be held on Wednesday, April 28 th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. On-premise business training (employees of bars, restaurants, etc.) will be held on Thursday, April 29 th from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

TIPS (Training Intervention ProcedureS) is an approved alcohol training awareness program by the New York State Liquor Authority. The training is part of YESCCC’s Partnering in Action Change for Tomorrow (PACT) federal grant initiative and MTAC's Drug Free Communities Program to reduce underage drinking, intoxication and drunk driving.  TIPS is supported by the Massapequa Chamber of Commerce, Nassau County Police Department, Town of Oyster Bay, and YES Community Counseling Center.

Businesses are invited to the innovative VIRTUAL training which seeks to enhance the fundamental “people skills" of servers, sellers and consumers of alcohol. In addition, TIPS training can reduce exposure to alcohol liability lawsuits and reduce penalties for alcohol violations; lower insurance premiums; improve customer service and satisfaction; and promote community safety.

If you are a business that serves or sells alcohol and are interested in registering yourself or your
employee(s) for the virtual TIPS Training, please contact Larissa Singh, Project Coordinator of
Massapequa Takes Action Coalition at info@mtacoalition.com or (516) 799-3203 x132.
