Massapequa Elks Lodge #2162 and Massapequa Takes Action Coalition (MTAC) will host the Dangers of Vaping and Opioid Overdose Prevention for families and concerned community members who want to take action to learn about the dangers of vaping and prevent opioid overdose. The prevention program will be delivered by YES Community Counseling Center’s PACT Initiative on Tuesday, August 23rd from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Massapequa Elks Lodge #2162, 2162 Veterans Blvd, Massapequa. According to the Center for Disease Control, since COVID, there has been an increase in opioid overdose deaths with the number of deaths reaching over 100,000 in the United States. Nassau County Police report an increase in the number of opioid overdose death from 140 in 2019 to 223 in 2020. Now more than ever Opioid Education and Naloxone Training is necessary to save the lives of our community members struggling with addiction.
