MTAC Offers FREE TIPS Training for Massapequas' Businesses Serving or Selling Alcohol

Massapequa Takes Action Coalition (MTAC) invites Massapequa businesses and their employees that serve or sell alcohol to attend FREE TIPS training, a skills based training designed to prevent intoxication, drunk driving, and underage drinking. TIPS stands for Training Intervention ProcedureS and is an approved alcohol training awareness program by the New York State Liquor Authority. The training is part of MTAC's Drug Free Communities Grant initiatives to reduce underage drinking, intoxication and drunk driving.

MTAC’s TIPS training is being offered in conjunction with the Town of Oyster Bay, Nassau County Police Department, YES Community Counseling Center, and Massapequa Chamber of Commerce.

Whether you are an Off-Premise (convenience store, grocery store, liquor store, etc.) or On-Premise (bars, restaurants, etc.) business, this innovative training will enhance the fundamental “people skills" of your servers, sellers and consumers of alcohol. The FREE training, delivered by YES Community Counseling Center (YESCCC), provides the knowledge and confidence to recognize potential alcohol–related problems and effectively intervene to prevent alcohol-related tragedies.

Training will be held at YES Community Counseling Center, 75 Grand Avenue, Massapequa, NY on the following dates and times:

·         Off-Premise Training: Monday, February 10, 2020, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

·         On-Premise Training: Tuesday, February 11, 2020, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

 Coffee and lunch will be served at both sessions.

Businesses and organizations that use TIPS benefit immediately by lowering risk and creating a safer, more
responsible work environment. In addition, TIPS training can

• Reduce exposure to alcohol liability lawsuits and reduce penalties for alcohol violations;
• Lower insurance premiums;
• Improve customer service and satisfaction; and
• Promote community safety.
